The Korean Demilitarized Zone is a strip of land running across the Korean peninsula that serves as a buffer zone between North Korea and South Korea.
It is a de-facto border barrier which runs along the 38th parallel north.
27 July 1953 Armistice Agreement established the DMZ along the approximate line of ground contact between opposing forces at that time the truce ended Korean War.
